# Your printed QR code shouldn't have an expiration date.

Many "free" generators hand out codes that die when a trial ends. These don't, because there's nothing in the middle to switch off.

- No account
- No trial
- Made in your browser

## How to check any QR code before you print

- **Scan it and read the first address.** If it opens the generator's domain (a short link) rather than yours, it's a dynamic code that someone else controls.
- **Find the trial terms.** Look for what happens to codes when a trial or subscription ends. "Deactivated" means your print run can die.
- **Check cancellation.** Ask whether codes keep working if you stop paying. If not, you're renting them.
- **Prefer your own domain.** A static code to a page on your site can be "edited" by changing that page, with no middleman.

## Static codes vs. "free" dynamic codes

| |FixedQR (static) |Typical "free" dynamic |
|Stops working when a trial ends |Never |Often, after 7–14 days |
|Account required |No |Usually |
|Edit destination after printing |No |Yes, while you pay |
|Scan statistics |No |Yes, while you pay |
|Depends on the provider staying in business |No |Yes |
|Cost |Free |Trial, then a subscription |

## Why these don't expire

- **Your link is in the pattern.** A static code stores your address directly, with no middleman link.
- **Nothing to switch off.** We never see your scans, so there's no redirect we could disable.
- **Works without us.** If FixedQR disappeared tomorrow, your printed codes keep working.

## The trade-off

- **Can't edit after printing.** To change the destination, point the code at a page you control and change that page.
- **No scan counts.** Static codes can't report scans. Use analytics on your own site instead.
- **Only as alive as your link.** If the website it points to goes down, the code leads nowhere.

## FAQ

### Will it ever stop working?

Not because of us. The code is your link written as a pattern. It works as long as the link it contains works.
### Can I edit it later?

Not the code itself. Tip: point it at a page on your own site, then change that page whenever you like.
### Do you track scans?

No. Scans go straight from the phone to your link; we're never in the path. The site itself uses no analytics or tracking cookies.
